Have you ever found yourself by the bedside of a suffering loved one, feeling helpless in the face of their pain or have you ever felt the urge to  impact someone’s life for the better but were unsure how to proceed?

Such dilemmas echo this week’s narrative of a determined father whose unwavering faith led to the miraculous healing of his suffering child. By recognizing the authority of Christ, this father believed that bringing his son to Jesus would produce a life changing solution. However, despite his efforts, the disciples couldn’t fulfill his request for healing.

According to scripture, Jesus attributed the lack of healing to the disciples’  insufficient faith: “Because you have so little faith. Truly I tell you, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you”  (Matthew 17:20).

Romans 10:17 teaches us that faith is nurtured through exposure to the Word of God, with Jesus being the embodiment of that Word (John 1:1-5)

and the originator and perfecter of our faith (Hebrews 12:2). Anchoring our faith in Jesus and His Word empowers us to witness miracles and  wonders in our own lives and in the lives of others. It ‘s not having faith in our own abilities, but in the One who can do all things.

And this is why it’s important to immerse ourselves in God’s Word and allow it to permeate our hearts, it strengthens our faith and becomes the catalysts for transformative change in the lives of those around us.
