There are many promises that are made and broken especially around the election of politicians. We have made promises to others and we have had to apologize for our own short comings. God has made a promise to love us but it is not a promise made with words only, God sent His Son as a sacrifice for our sins and the promise of eternal life.
The suffering & death of Jesus is a fact. His resurrection is also an undisputable fact given the overwhelming evidence. So this promise of God’s love for us is not a “maybe” but rather a “definite” and we can rely on the love God has for us, for now and for eternity.
“This is how God showed his love among us: He sent his one and only Son into the world that we might live through him. This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins. Dear friends, since God so loved us, we also ought to love one another.” 1 John 4:9-11, NIV.
There is no excuse for us to not love those within God’s family. Don’t let petty arguments control your Christian life, forgive, say sorry and accept the love God has for you. Keep your focus on Jesus and be thankful for what He endured for you and I.
“If anyone acknowledges that Jesus is the Son of God, God lives in them and they in God. And so we know and rely on the love God has for us. God is love. Whoever lives in love lives in God, and God in them.” 1 John 4:15-16.
