What a privilege it is to belong to the family of God through Jesus. This gives us hope and comfort. We sense a purpose for our life. However, there is no room for complacency in our relationship with God and with others. Paul writes a powerful description of the testimony of Jesus in Philippians 2: 6 – 11 but he writes the first 5 verses of chapter 2 as a challenge for us. How is our testimony or witness to those who know us?
“Does your life in Christ give you strength? Does his love comfort you? Do we share together in the spirit? Do you have mercy and kindness? If so, make me very happy by having the same thoughts, sharing the same love, and having one mind and purpose. When you do things, do not let selfishness or pride be your guide. Instead, be humble and give more honour to others than to yourselves. Do not be interested only in your own life, but be interested in the lives of others. In your lives you must think and act like Christ Jesus” Philippians 2:1-5, NCV.
