Being in the dark opens up our imagination and we can only imagine what is before us. We are therefore living in “guess work” and that is not a good way to live.
“For it is you who light my lamp; the Lord my God lightens my darkness. For by you I can run against a troop, and by my God I can leap over a wall. This God—his way is perfect; the word of the Lord proves true; he is a shield for all those who take refuge in him.” Psalm 18:28-30, ESV.
I was riding my motorcycle to the bike races in Bathurst just before Easter in 1976. It was after sunset and we were trying to get as far as we could before stopping to sleep. My headlight failed and I was now riding in the dark. So I rode close to the bike in front of me for a long time. This plan was filled with danger especially due to kangaroos, but we kept going all the way to Hay.
It was a much safer ride the next morning to Bathurst with the sun up and showing me the way.
Spiritually we can be in the dark and this is an unsafe place to be. Keep in the light. Allow Jesus to be your guide. Read His word and pray often. The view is so much better when we walk or ride with Jesus.
“Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.” Psalm 119:105, ESV
