This week we remember the ministry in the Enfield area by a faithful group of people who attended the Church on the corner of Bowman Crescent and Warwick Street in Enfield. We give thanks for their vision and for their generosity. Countless people have been blessed because of their association with this Church. How blessed we are at Hampstead Gardens to have some of those members become such a vital part of our Church family. There have been many leaders in the Enfield Heights Church of Christ over the past 7 decades. Our reading from Hebrews 13 is a challenge for us to remember the Gospel of Jesus taught to us by those people in our past. We are never to glorify man but we are to Glorify God and to give thanks for the message that Jesus brought to us.

Remember your leaders, who spoke the word of God to you. Consider the outcome of their way of life and imitate their faith. Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.” Hebrews 13:7-8, NIV.

The same Jesus who walked all over the country of Israel, healed the sick, fed the 5,000, walked on water, died on the cross and rose again, wants to have a personal relationship with us today. That is difficult to understand and humbling for us to consider. As we live our daily life we are encouraged to be faithful and dedicated to following Jesus. Take note that our greatest witness is not so much what we say but who we are! There is a barrage of advertising that takes our attention every day. Encourage each other to remain strong in our faith in Jesus. Be genuine and authentic in all that you do. Some similar verses from Hebrews 13 from a different translation.

There should be a consistency that runs through us all. For Jesus doesn’t change—yesterday, today, tomorrow, he’s always totally himself. Don’t be lured away from him by the latest speculations about him. The grace of Christ is the only good ground for life. Products named after Christ don’t seem to do much for those who buy them.”   Hebrews 13:8-9, The Message.
