“Two men will be in the field; one will be taken and the other left. Two women will be grinding with a hand mill; one will be taken and the other left.” Matthew 24:40-41, NIV. Larry Norman wrote a song called, “I wish we’d all been ready” and it contains words from the Bible such as Matthew 24.

“A man and wife asleep in bed
She hears a noise and turns her head he’s gone
I wish we’d all been ready
Two men walking up a hill
One disappears and one’s left standing still
I wish we’d all been ready
There’s no time to change your mind
The Son has come and you’ve been left behind”

The lyrics of this song are very challenging and they confront our desire for a peaceful life. But just as we give thanks to God for sending Jesus as our Saviour to forgive us our sin, we must also desire to see Jesus come as King to judge the world. Jesus lived humbly and died horrifically, but He rose again triumphant and there is to be a final fulfilment of all of the prophesies in the Bible when Jesus comes again. No-one knows the time that Jesus will come, we are simply told to be ready as He will save all who follow Him and call Him Lord. An article from Sermon Central says the following about Jesus.

“In His first coming Jesus was in a manger wrapped in swaddling clothes. In His second coming He will be clothed royally in a robe of glory.
In His first coming He was surrounded with cattle and common shepherds. In His second coming He will be accompanied by the massive armies of angels.
In His first coming the door of the inn was closed to Him. In His second coming the door of the heavens will be opened to Him.
In His first coming His voice was the tiny cry of a baby. In His second coming His voice will thunder as the sound of many waterfalls.
In His first coming, He was the Lamb of God who came bringing salvation. In His second coming, He will be the Lion of the tribe of Judah who comes bringing righteous judgment.
When Jesus ascended into heaven his ascension was witnessed only by his disciples. When Jesus returns His second coming will be witnessed around the world.” https://www.sermoncentral.com/
