It is easy to praise God when you are happy and content on a cruise ship and you are enjoying a lovely dinner and about to see a wonderful sunset from the deck of the ship. All is well in the gentle swell! But it is so hard to praise God and be thankful for everything when things are not going so well.
Reaksa in Cambodia is working hard to help the Church near Siem Reap to be able to function spiritually and responsibly. Reaksa has found the past year to be very difficult. The Church at KCC needs our prayer support and in particular the two new leaders in training, Sarim and Vongsa. Reaksa has said that he is only going to remain as pastor till June this year at KCC. Pray for his family as they consider what they will do after that. We all face disappointments in our life and it is how we cope with them that is the real test of our faith. There are some wonderful verses that are a challenge for us all.
“Always be full of joy in the Lord. I say it again—rejoice! Let everyone see that you are considerate in all you do. Remember, the Lord is coming soon. Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus. And now, dear brothers and sisters, one final thing. Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honourable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise. Keep putting into practice all you learned and received from me—everything you heard from me and saw me doing. Then the God of peace will be with you.” Philippians 4:4-9, NLT.
