Pray for Zambia
This country is a northern neighbour to Zimbabwe. The population is about 12 million and 85% are Christian with the Catholic Church being the biggest denomination. There are many opportunities for service: Bible teaching in schools, medical work, leadership training and the use of technical skills such as in radio and literature production and distribution. Pray for this to continue.

President Chiluba openly dedicated Zambia to God as a Christian nation at his inauguration in 1991. The out workings in public life have been disappointing, with many in the government becoming ostentatiously wealthy while half the population live in dire poverty. Pray for hearts, worldviews and structures to be moulded by God’s Word, for democracy not to be discredited and for Christianity not to be debased or even rejected through such failures. Although poverty continues to be significant problem in Zambia, its economy has strengthened, featuring single-digit inflation, a relatively stable currency, decreasing interest rates, and increasing levels of trade. Copper output has increased steadily since 2004, due to higher copper prices and foreign investment. The AIDS catastrophe has devastated the population and brought health services to the point of collapse. Pray for the people of Zambia. | |
