What a powerful message Peter spoke on the day of Pentecost. He had an experience of the Holy Spirit that was overwhelming and life changing. He stood up and answered the questions that must have abounded due to their behaviour. They were not drunk with wine, but they were filled with the gift of the Holy Spirit revealing an inexpressible joy. Peter proclaimed that Jesus is alive and preached that death could not hold Him. This word was given only 50 days after Jesus had been pronounced dead and was witnessed by so many. A powerful message to the Jews who wanted Jesus out of the way. They must have heard rumours of Jesus appearing to so many people and wondered what this meant. The Jews may well have been feeling very uneasy and nervous about this man Jesus who seemed to be fulfilling something only reserved for the coming Messiah. Little did they know, Jesus is the Messiah.

“Men of Israel, hear these words: Jesus of Nazareth, a man attested to you by God with mighty works and wonders and signs that God did through him in your midst, as you yourselves know— this Jesus, delivered up according to the definite plan and foreknowledge of God, you crucified and killed by the hands of lawless men. God raised him up, loosing the pangs of death, because it was not possible for him to be held by it.” Acts 2:22-24, ESV.

What a message! A statement that challenged those who heard it! A message that gives us hope because it reminds us that God is interested in all of life, now and for eternity. Trust in Jesus who is the Saviour for all mankind and has an answer for your needs today.
