Hi, I’m Brendan Thomas and I work with FOCUS, a Christian club at Adelaide Uni for international students. Our motto is to help students make friends and meet Jesus, and in God’s kindness we have seen many students over the years meet Jesus for the first time and put their trust in him. We’ve also had many believers join our group who have grown in their love for Jesus and in their  desire to make him known.

Around 1 in 4 students at Adelaide Uni and UniSA are internationals, and many come from nations where it is difficult for seekers to join a church or find out about Jesus for themselves. As the nations come to us in Australia it is a great opportunity for the gospel to go out and for international believers to be trained up and sent back to the nations with the gospel.

One of my favourite images in the Bible is in Revelation 7:9-10.

After this I looked, and there before me was a great multitude that no one could count, from every nation, tribe, people and language, standing before the throne and before the Lamb. They were wearing white robes and were holding palm branches in their hands. And they cried out in a loud voice:

“Salvation belongs to our God,
who sits on the throne,
and to the Lamb.”

John sees a great multitude worshipping God as a unified group, even though they are so diverse. We get a taste of this future reality every week in FOCUS!    I love that God’s heart is for the nations to enter his kingdom and that he works through us to achieve his glorious purposes. May he work through you and I in bringing the nations to worship before his glorious throne!
