Here we are on Pentecost Sunday. What a magnificent day for joyful celebration When you think about it, so much incredible and spectacular demonstration of God’s plan of Redemption all happened within 2 brief months.
From Jesus entry into Jerusalem, through the Upper Room, arrest in Gethsemane, the trials, the cross, the glorious resurrection, and final ascension into glory to the events after 10 days, the day of Pentecost, we see the fullness of God’s amazing plan.
In Hebrews chapter 12 verse 2 the scripture says:
“Looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.”
I believe these words reflect the joy of Christ looking past the pain of the cross, the hostility of the crowds, the desertion of his own followers to the day of resurrection, but finally, THE DAY OF PENTECOST. What happened then was the unleashing of God’s spectacular power to follow the faithful preaching of Peter, the response of the crowds, the conversions and baptisms of a few thousand people, resulting in the birth of the church.
Pentecost, I believe is one of the most joyful days in the Christian calendar . . . the day that we celebrate today. May the Lord be with us all and churches everywhere as we celebrate this great day . . . our birthday as the Ecclesia, the called out body of Jesus Christ.
Praise God and the Lord be with you all. Roger
