Sunday, 26th of June 2022

During this past week we in Australia have had the longest night of darkness.  From now on the days will get longer. Spare a thought for those scientists in the Antarctic Circle where there is the whole 24 hours on June 21st where the sun is below the horizon. The effects of the sun are seen as twilight for an hour and then darkness engulfs the area for the next 23 hours. This is also difficult for people who live in countries that are close to the North Pole around Christmas. It is very true that we feel better about life in the daylight rather than in the darkness of night. Our theme this week is “the true light is already shinning.” Spiritualty we are in need of the true light. Jesus is the true light as is described in John 8:12. In

1 John 2 we read more about this light.

“Beloved, I am writing you no new commandment, but an old commandment that you had from the beginning. The old commandment is the word that

you have heard. At the same time, it is a new commandment that I am writing to you, which is true in him and in you, because the darkness is

passing away and the true light is already shining.”    1 John 2:7-8, ESV.

We are surrounded by so much spiritual darkness it is important to remind each other of the spiritual light of Jesus that is available for us to live in now. Walking at night in the bush without a torch is dangerous and reckless when there are options to help us to see. Spiritually, choose to live in the light not in the darkness
