Walking with Jesus: What Now?

We might have come to the end of our series, but our journey does not end here. The Christian life is not a sprint but a steady walk, one that requires endurance, focus, and faith. Paul’s words remind us that receiving Christ is only the beginning of the journey. The real challenge is learning how to keep walking with Him every day.

As you may remember, our walk begins with being rooted in Jesus. Just as a tree draws nourishment from deep roots, we draw strength and wisdom from remaining connected to Him. This means spending time in prayer, reading the Word, and letting His truth shape our thoughts and choices. When life shakes us, it is our deep roots in Christ that keep us standing firm.

Likewise, faith grows when it’s exercised. Keeping in step with Jesus means trusting Him in every circumstance, not just when things go well. Each challenge is an opportunity for your faith to be “built up or grow.” As we depend on Him, we discover His strength at work in our weakness. Spiritual maturity comes as we learn to walk by faith, not by sight.

Paul warns against being taken captive by “hollow and deceptive philosophy” (v.8). In today’s world, it’s easy to be drawn away by comfort, culture, or busyness. To keep walking with Jesus, we must guard our hearts and stay focused on what truly matters. It becomes a discipline to keep Christ at the centre of all we do.

A grateful (joyful) heart sustains our walk. When we pause to thank God for His grace, guidance, and provision, we are reminded of His faithfulness. Gratitude turns ordinary steps into worship and keeps us walking forward with joy.

Paul concludes this passage by reminding us that in Christ, we have been given fullness (v.10). We don’t walk to earn God’s love, we walk because we already have it. Jesus is our strength, our identity, and our victory. Knowing this keeps us steady even when the path gets rough.

Each step, each prayer, each act of obedience draws you closer to Him. Stay rooted, remain thankful, and let your daily walk reflect the fullness of life that is yours in Christ. My hope is, we as a faith community chose to Walk with Jesus.
