Walking with Jesus: A Life of Alignment

In reading Amos 3:2–7, the prophet reminds Israel that God’s relationship with His people carries both privilege and responsibility. “You only have I chosen of all the families of the earth; therefore I will punish you for all your sins” (v.2). To walk with God is not casual companionship, it is a covenant. Just as two cannot walk together unless they are agreed (v.3), so we are called to align our lives with the will and character of Jesus. Walking with Him means moving in step with His truth, not asking Him to follow our path.

When we walk with Jesus, we accept both His guidance and His discipline. Amos warns that God does not act without revealing His plans to His servants (v.7). In the same way, Jesus invites us into a relationship where He makes known His heart through Scripture, prayer, and the Spirit’s leading. Walking with Him is a daily choice to listen, obey, and trust, even when the path is hard. It is in that walk that we find clarity, purpose, and strength, knowing we are never alone.

To walk with Jesus, then, is to embrace both His love and His lordship. It is to live with reverence, to respond to His call, and to bear witness to His presence in our lives. Just as Amos called Israel back to faithfulness, so too are we reminded: our walk with Jesus shapes our character, our decisions, and our testimony to the world.
