Do you remember the Magic 3D pictures that were all the rage in the 90’s? The ones that looked like static on the tv, but if you focused on them – really focused on them, a picture would appear (or supposedly it would. I have never been able to see them!).
When thinking about the theme of this week’s sermon – Our lives are to be singularly focused on Jesus – these pictures came to mind. God calls all of us to be focused on Him and when we do, we see the good things He has done for us, how He is with us always and how He wants us to live. The static in our lives that distract us from Him will disappear and we will be left with a beautiful picture He has designed just for each one of us.
However, we don’t get the benefits of this if we don’t really focus on Him. If we just give God a quick glance, or look for a moment but give up before we really focus on Him, the static remains in place and we are left with an incomplete picture of God.
So this week, I would challenge all of us to spend some time focused on God and see what blessings that will bring.
