“Where there is no vision, the people perish: but he that keepeth the law, happy is he.”
Proverbs 29:18 (KJV)

We live in a time filled with information, strategy, and planning, yet many people, organisations, and even churches are lost for vision. The ancient wisdom of Proverbs 29 reminds us of something profound: Without vision, people perish. This is not simply about strategic foresight or goal-setting; it’s about living with a divinely inspired direction that shapes our priorities and guides our steps.

In the context of Proverbs, “vision” refers to revelation from God, insight into His will, His truth, and His way. A community without God’s direction loses clarity and begins to drift. Individuals without Godly vision are easily discouraged, distracted and even deceived. Vision anchors.

The word “perish” in Hebrew implies disorder, chaos, or casting off restraint. In other words, when people lose sight of God’s truth and purpose, things unravel. Vision isn’t just about avoiding disaster, it’s about pursuing life. Jesus said, “I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full” (John 10:10). This was Godly vision for humanity.

Whether you’re leading a team, raising a family, serving in ministry, or navigating the complexities of life complexities you need vision. Not just personal goals or ambition, but a God-given sense of direction rooted in Scripture and prayer.

Mybe, ask God to renew your vision. Where is He calling you to serve, speak, stand, or change?

Proverbs 29 reminds us that vision is not optional, it’s essential. Without it, we drift. With it, we thrive. And with God’s Word as our compass, our lives become a reflection of His wisdom, grace, and purpose.
