What does it mean to walk with Jesus?
Every church, no matter how big or small, is part of God’s greater story. We are not here by accident, nor are we simply maintaining tradition. As the Bride of Christ, we are participating in a divine plan that began long before us and will continue long after. Understanding God’s plan for Hampstead Gardens Church of Christ helps us move forward in faith, unity, and purpose as we walk with Jesus.
When we speak of God’s plan, we’re talking about more than just strategic goals or ministry programs. God’s plan begins with His heart, His desire to redeem, restore, and reconcile people to Himself through Jesus Christ. As a local church, we have been uniquely placed and equipped to play our part in that plan right here, within our community.
Throughout Scripture, God’s people were often called to discern His leading. Abraham stepped out in faith without knowing all the details. Moses led the Israelites forward with only a promise to guide him. The early church in Acts listened to the Holy Spirit and adapted as God opened new doors. Likewise, we are invited to continue to seek God’s will through prayer, through His Word, and through the guidance of the Holy Spirit as we walk with Jesus.
Understanding God’s plan, doesn’t always mean having all the answers. Sometimes it means trusting Him in the waiting, being faithful in small things, and remaining united even when directions are still unfolding. As Proverbs 16:9 reminds us, “In their hearts humans plan their course, but the Lord establishes their steps.” As we walk with Jesus, He establishes those steps one by one.
Our role is to stay open to what God is doing. Our job is simply to listen, to love, and to follow. It may mean rethinking familiar patterns, embracing new opportunities, or simply deepening our commitment to one another. Whatever the path, we can be confident that God is at work shaping us into a church that reflects His mission that will advance His Kingdom now and into the future.
God’s plan for our church is not a mystery to be solved, but a journey to be lived one step at a time, together as a faith community, as we walk with Jesus.
