Whenever we are stressed, in trouble, feeling unwell or grieving it is good to begin with praise. Turn to God first. Spend a moment praising God and know that He is in control. What magnificent words are in the opening verses of Psalm 18. This a famous Psalm worthy of our study.
“I love you, O Lord, my strength. The Lord is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer, my God, my rock, in whom I take refuge, my shield, and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold. I call upon the Lord, who is worthy to be praised, and I am saved from my enemies.” Psalm 18:1-3, ESV.
In the next few verses there is some very honest sharing from David as he relays to the reader how terrified he felt at the hands of Saul and other enemies.
“In my distress I called upon the Lord; to my God I cried for help. From his temple he heard my voice, and my cry to him reached his ears.” Psalm 18:6.
Then he speaks boldly about the awesome power of God. He is more than worthy and faithful for you to put your trust in. Follow Him today! Don’t be distracted by the promises of the world no matter how convincing they seem. David was rewarded by his trust in a powerful God.
“He led me to a place of safety; he rescued me because he delights in me.” Psalm 18:19, NLT.
